Quality Controller – Food Safety & Quality

About the role

The Quality Controller will ensure that Avoca’s production site consistently meets the highest food safety and quality standards. You will protect the brand by embedding robust safety practices, maintaining compliance, and driving continuous improvement within the Food Safety & Quality Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full compliance with food safety, legal and internal standards, including HACCP implementation.
• Monitor the production floor to ensure safe, efficient manufacturing in line with SOPs and quality expectations.
• Support and continuously improve the site’s Food Safety & Quality Management System.
• Escalate system breakdowns or risks to senior management promptly.
• Keep HACCP documentation accurate, up‑to‑date and audit‑ready.
• Lead investigations of customer complaints, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct internal audits, product testing and verification activities.
• Analyse and report weekly/monthly quality metrics, highlighting trends and improvement areas.
• Manage non‑conforming products and processes, working closely with the Food Safety & Quality Manager.
• Deliver internal training and ensure team understanding of procedures.

Required profile

• Reliable commute to Bray, Co. Wicklow.
• Flexibility to support operational needs, including covering for team members.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving approach.
• Experience in food production or retail food environments is desirable.
• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards is highly desirable.
