Quality Specialist – Launch Team

About the role
The Quality Specialist – Launch Team will join Ball’s process experts to drive start‑up performance for new builds, new lines and line conversions. You will ensure that products meet quality, food‑safety and environmental specifications from the first production run through hand‑over, supporting rapid ramp‑up to stable operations.
Key responsibilities
- Achieve efficiency and spoilage targets for all new builds, new lines and line conversions in line with approved start‑up curves.
- Lead quality performance during start‑up, delivering compliant and specification‑conforming product.
- Monitor processes, materials and outputs continuously, taking immediate corrective action on deviations.
- Oversee inspections and audits, ensuring local quality teams execute process checks, material inspections and finished‑product audits.
- Maintain, calibrate and validate gauges, inspection devices and measurement equipment, providing reliable quality verification across EMEA.
- Track quality trends, identify early variation signals and initiate corrective or preventive actions.
- Support the Plant Quality Manager with ISO, HACCP and other regulatory or customer‑driven food‑safety systems.
- Execute SOPs, SPC and other quality‑management tools to ensure process consistency during ramp‑up.
- Train production and quality staff on process understanding, defect prevention, inspection standards and food‑safety practices.
Required profile
- Proven experience in a quality role within manufacturing, preferably with new‑line start‑up or conversion projects.
- Strong understanding of efficiency, spoilage and quality KPIs.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Required skills
- Knowledge of ISO standards and HACCP requirements.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Proficiency in calibration, validation and maintenance of measurement equipment.
- Ability to analyse quality trends and implement corrective actions.
