Respiratory Registrar – General Medicine

About the role

Portiuncula University Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Registrar to join its General Medicine Department. The post is based in Ballinasloe and involves delivering respiratory medicine care within a busy acute hospital serving East Galway and surrounding counties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide respiratory medicine services to in‑patients in the General Medicine Department.
• Participate in acute medicine, critical care and emergency department activities as required.
• Engage in weekly teaching sessions, MRCP preparation and simulation‑based training.

Required profile

• Active registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Minimum three years’ experience in respiratory medicine.
• Completion of all relevant membership examinations.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Valid OET/IELTS results where applicable.
• Previous experience working in Ireland is desirable.

Required skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
