Retail Financial Controller

About the role

The Retail Financial Controller joins the wider retail finance team to support an ambitious growth plan. Reporting to the Head of Retail Finance, the role oversees all retail financial legal entities and works closely with finance and non‑finance stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, delivering accurate financial statements in line with IFRS and company policies.
• Oversee balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, revenue recognition, inventory accounting and cost of sales.
• Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and inventory accounting.
• Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks, ensuring compliance with group policies and pharma‑specific regulations such as GxP.
• Lead internal and external audit processes, acting as primary liaison and ensuring audit‑ready documentation.
• Identify financial risks, implement mitigation strategies and support regulatory reporting.
• Mentor and develop finance team members, setting performance objectives and fostering continuous improvement.
• Drive process standardisation, automation and ERP implementation initiatives to improve scalability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial reporting and month‑end close within a regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, GxP and pharmaceutical accounting requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead audit processes and manage internal controls.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
