Scheme Project Manager

About the role

Alstom is seeking a Scheme Project Manager to join its UK&I D&IS team in Cork. You will support the Project Manager or Lead Project Manager in delivering signalling works on railway infrastructure, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in managing and delivering significant elements of contracted works.
• Lead small or lower‑complexity projects, or defined parts of larger projects.
• Control costs, risks and opportunities to meet business expectations.
• Produce clear status reports in line with the Project Management Plan.
• Identify resource needs and collaborate with planners to build programmes covering people, plant, materials and subcontractors.
• Manage subcontractors, monitor progress and communicate issues and risks.
• Represent Alstom at client and supplier meetings and support presentation preparation.
• Maintain accurate project risk registers and ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Track deliverables through to successful project close‑out.

Required profile

• Experience in a main contractor, consultant or client role within railway, construction or engineering.
• Familiarity with Health, Safety & Environmental standards, especially CDM 2015.
• Understanding of quantified risk assessments and scheduling/planning principles.
• Knowledge of principal contractor duties in rail or construction environments.
• Strong grasp of management systems and documentation.
