Senior Audit Manager / Director – SME & Owner‑Managed Business

About the role

We are partnering with a top‑10 professional services firm in Dublin to recruit a motivated and technically strong Senior Audit Manager or Director. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality audits for small‑medium enterprises and owner‑managed businesses, providing strategic advice and building lasting client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME and owner‑managed audits from planning through completion, tailoring the audit approach to private, entrepreneurial companies.
• Advise business owners and directors on accounting issues, offering clear, practical guidance that supports strategic decisions.
• Serve as the primary client contact, fostering strong relationships with founders, management teams, banks and lenders.
• Collaborate with internal specialist teams to address broader business needs such as tax planning, corporate finance, or succession planning.
• Own engagement economics, including budgeting, staffing and timeline management to ensure profitable delivery.
• Mentor and coach managers and senior audit staff, supporting their technical growth and client‑facing confidence.
• Promote the use of cloud accounting tools and modern workflows to streamline audit processes and minimise disruption for client finance teams.

Required profile

• Audit experience gained in a small‑medium sized practice environment (preferred).
• Passion for delivering an excellent client experience.
• Strong technical aptitude with meticulous attention to detail.
• Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills.
• Motivated, proactive team player.
• Typically 5+ years post‑qualification experience (PQE).
