Senior Database Administrator

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the management of its production, pre‑production, UAT and development database environments. The role focuses on delivering a secure, scalable and high‑performance database infrastructure that supports global payment solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain database systems across production, pre‑production, UAT and development environments.
• Assist in designing the database tier for global systems and ensure scalability and resilience.
• Collaborate with system engineers, database developers and other DB administrators to deliver robust database solutions.
• Configure, patch, upgrade and optimise database software and related products.
• Implement and manage security, backup/recovery, architecture and networking aspects of the database landscape.
• Set up, configure and troubleshoot both physical and logical database replication.
• Monitor database health, resolve escalated issues and drive root‑cause remediation.

Required profile

• Advanced hands‑on experience with database configuration, patching, upgrading and performance optimisation.
• Strong background in database security, backup/recovery, architecture and networking.
• Proven expertise in physical and logical database replication.
• Track record of working with technology teams on development, testing, implementation and support of database technologies.
• Ability to proactively monitor systems and resolve complex issues quickly.
