Senior Financial Risk and Controls Manager

About the role

Monzo is looking for a Senior Financial Risk and Controls Manager to join its Finance team in Dublin. You will help build and maintain a robust risk and control environment as the bank expands across European markets.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and document a strong risk and control framework for Finance, aligning with the enterprise risk appetite.
• Design, update and manage Finance risk and control matrices for core processes.
• Perform regular control testing, review evidence, and assess design and operating effectiveness across reporting, month‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliations, regulatory reporting, tax, treasury and capital/liquidity functions.
• Identify control gaps, recommend enhancements and track remediation actions to completion.
• Lead Finance self‑assessments, gather evidence, challenge findings and produce clear documentation.
• Prepare concise updates for Finance leadership on testing results and remediation progress.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in audit, financial control or risk assurance within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
• Ability to challenge processes, write clear findings and drive improvements.
• Comfort working across Finance functions such as Regulatory Reporting, Treasury, FP&A, Tax, Risk & Compliance and Internal Audit.
