Senior Staff Nurse – Paediatric Assessment Unit (Part‑time)

About the role

The Children’s Unit at Raigmore Hospital is seeking a motivated Band 6 Senior Paediatric Staff Nurse to join the busy Paediatric Assessment Unit. This part‑time, fixed‑term position offers 23 hours per week, including weekends and night shifts, and runs until May 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality nursing care to children and young people across inpatient, day‑case, HDU and outpatient settings.
• Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan and deliver patient‑centred care.
• Support clinical procedures, investigations and post‑operative recovery within the unit.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with NHS policies and safety standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience in paediatric nursing, preferably at Band 6 level.
• Ability to work flexibly across evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.

Required skills

• Paediatric clinical assessment.
• Medication administration and IV therapy.
• Patient monitoring and documentation.
