Senior Staff Nurse – Paediatric (Part‑time, Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Paediatric Staff Nurse to join the Highland Children’s Unit on a part‑time, fixed‑term basis. The role involves 23 hours per week, including weekends and night shifts, and runs until May 2027. You will be part of the only specialist paediatric service in the Highlands, delivering comprehensive care to children and young people across a range of settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality nursing care for in‑patients, day‑case surgery, procedural and investigative services.
• Deliver care in the High Dependency Unit (HDU), assessment area and two outpatient departments.
• Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to plan and implement patient‑centred care.
• Participate in night and weekend shifts as part of the service roster.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to NHS policies and standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience in paediatric nursing at Band 6 level.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, nights and weekends.
• Residency in Scotland with address verifiable by identification documents.
• Ability to communicate with Gaelic‑speaking families is welcomed.
