Senior Tax Manager - Risk, Controls & Governance

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead Risk, Controls & Governance within our tax function. The role will shape and operate the group’s tax risk and governance framework, providing visibility to senior leadership and ensuring a defensible control environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships across the business to proactively identify, assess and manage tax risks.
• Lead the creation and maintenance of the Group’s tax risk framework and risk register, aligning with the enterprise risk framework.
• Establish consistent tax risk management processes, including governance and escalation procedures.
• Partner with Finance and business leaders to embed tax considerations into key decisions.
• Communicate complex tax risks in a clear, commercial manner to non‑tax stakeholders.
• Develop and enhance the Group’s tax policies and Tax Control Framework in line with legislative changes.
• Collaborate with Direct and Indirect Tax teams to ensure consistent implementation and robust governance.
• Identify control gaps, oversee remediation plans and promote best practice documentation of tax positions.
• Prepare and present tax risk and governance reports to senior leadership, the Board and Audit Committee.
• Lead the Group’s tax governance framework, ensuring regulatory compliance and evolving standards.
• Oversee tax‑related internal audits, driving remediation and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Qualified tax professional with 10+ years post‑qualified experience, preferably in a Group Tax or Tax Risk environment.
• Proven experience leading change initiatives and improving tax processes and governance.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with CFOs, executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and analytical capabilities.
