Site Engineer – Commercial Build Project

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer to join our client’s commercial build project in Athlone. You will act as the primary technical point of contact on‑site, bridging design and execution while ensuring safety, quality and accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Establish accurate lines, levels and control points using GPS, total stations and levelling equipment.
• Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, resolving discrepancies before construction.
• Monitor works to ensure compliance with design specifications, Irish building regulations and company quality standards.
• Maintain quality records and as‑built documentation.
• Promote and enforce health and safety standards on‑site.
• Assist the Site Agent/Project Manager in supervising operatives and sub‑contractors and tracking productivity.
• Support material checking, ordering and delivery coordination to avoid delays.

Required profile

• Degree or higher diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 2‑4+ years of site engineering experience with a recognised main contractor on civil or commercial projects.
• Valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling certificate and clean Irish driving licence.

Required skills

• Setting‑out using modern equipment (e.g., Leica Total Station, Trimble GPS).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, BCAR and health & safety legislation.
