Software Engineer – In-Vehicle Operating System

About the role

Red Hat’s Automotive Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the Red Hat In‑Vehicle Operating System (RHIVOS). You will design, develop, and own moderately complex software features while keeping end‑user experience and quality at the forefront.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with peers to create and improve manual and automated test cases.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and maintain test plans and test cases, and review them with the team.
• Report, verify, and track bugs.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and tools.
• Apply AI tools and agentic workflows to streamline processes such as code generation and routine testing.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems.
• Experience coding in C or Python.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Ability to work independently within a small team.
• Strong coordination, prioritisation, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Effective problem‑solving and collaboration abilities.
