Staff Nurse – Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU)

About the role

The Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) at Tipperary University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join its multidisciplinary team. This permanent, full‑time position provides an opportunity to deliver high‑quality nursing care to patients presenting with acute medical conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients admitted to the AMAU, ensuring timely and appropriate clinical interventions.
• Perform venepuncture and peripheral cannulation as part of routine patient care.
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and document all nursing activities accurately.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff to coordinate patient care plans.
• Participate in discharge planning and patient education to promote safe transitions of care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid nursing registration in Ireland.
• Minimum of 2 years post‑registration nursing experience.
• Recent experience (within the last 2 years) in an AMAU, Emergency Department, or Acute Medical Directorate.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced acute care environment.
