Staff Nurse – Children’s (SNCHILD26)

About the role

The Health Service Executive is recruiting a Staff Nurse for the Children’s department (reference SNCHILD26) at Portiuncula University Hospital in Galway. The position is open to both HSE and non‑HSE applicants and offers permanent full‑time or part‑time contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to children and young people in a hospital setting.
• Perform clinical assessments, administer medication and treatments, and monitor patient progress.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, allied health professionals and families.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HSE policies and infection‑control standards.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients, families and carers.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification with current registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
• Eligibility to work in the HSE West and North West Health Region.
• Experience in paediatric nursing is desirable but not mandatory.
• Ability to work flexibly across full‑time and part‑time schedules.
