About the role

The Department of Critical Care at Raigmore Hospital is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse with acute care experience. This position offers the chance to develop specialised skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team while delivering high‑quality, holistic patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in a fast‑paced environment.
• Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and senior nurses to implement care plans.
• Monitor patient vitals, administer medications and manage advanced equipment as required.
• Document clinical observations accurately and contribute to handover reports.
• Support patients and families with information and emotional care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Band 5) with recent acute care experience.
• Motivated to learn and develop within critical care.
• Enthusiastic, detail‑oriented and able to work well under pressure.
• Team player with a sense of humour and a commitment to high standards of care.

Required skills

• Fundamental nursing competencies in acute and critical care settings.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot critical care equipment.
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and patients.
