Staff Nurse – Emergency & Acute Floor (ED, Escalation, AMAU)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to join the Emergency & Acute Floor at Mayo University Hospital. The post covers work across the Emergency Department, Escalation unit and Acute Medical Assessment Unit, providing comprehensive care to patients with urgent and complex needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, Escalation unit and AMAU.
• Perform clinical assessments, administer medications, and coordinate patient flow.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and contribute to rapid response initiatives.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current registration on the NMBI register.
• Experience in emergency, acute or critical care settings is desirable.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and monitoring.
• Administration of IV therapy and emergency medications.
• Use of hospital information systems for patient documentation.
