Staff Nurse – RNID (Intellectual Disability)

About the role

The successful candidate will join Cheeverstown’s nursing team to deliver person‑centred care for adults with intellectual disabilities across the South Dublin area. The role requires flexibility to work on‑site at the campus, in community settings and to support the transition of residents to supported living.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality nursing care and clinical assessments to service users.
• Carry out administrative duties related to discharge, documentation and care planning.
• Work a rotating roster that includes days, sleep‑over, nights and weekends.
• Lead and mentor junior staff and support a multidisciplinary team.
• Promote safeguarding, capacity assessment and person‑centred decision making.

Required profile

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (RNID division) or a nurse with at least one year experience in intellectual disability care.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Flexible approach to working hours and locations.
• Full driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in IT applications used in healthcare settings.
• Knowledge of HIQA standards and Health Act Regulations 2013.
• Understanding of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act.
• Awareness of safeguarding vulnerable persons.
