Staff Nurse – Surgical Hub (Permanent/Part‑time)

About the role

The Health Service Executive is recruiting a Staff Nurse for the Surgical Hub at Galway University Hospitals. The position is open to both HSE and non‑HSE applicants and can be taken as a permanent full‑time or part‑time role.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Coordinate patient flow between pre‑operative, operative and post‑operative areas.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, allied health professionals and support staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and utilise hospital information systems.
• Adhere to infection‑control policies, health and safety standards, and HSE clinical guidelines.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse with current registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
• Relevant nursing qualification (e.g., BSc Nursing) and eligibility for Staff Nurse – General (grade 2135) or Enhanced Nurse (grade 2283).
• Experience in a surgical or acute care setting is desirable.
• Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including weekends and holidays.
