Tax Director

About the role

The Tax Director will manage client relationships, deliver tax advice, and support the growth of the tax department across the West of Ireland. This senior position works closely with a varied client portfolio and senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of tax clients across multiple sectors
• Deliver tax compliance and advisory support
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Collaborate with senior leadership and wider teams
• Support junior team members and review their work
• Provide commercially focused tax solutions
• Advise on restructuring, succession and tax planning matters
• Support business development initiatives
• Assist with consultancy assignments and complex client matters
• Collaborate across multiple service lines
• Contribute to the growth and development of the tax team
• Support recruitment and onboarding activities (occasionally)
• Attend networking and relationship‑building events
• Assist with internal training and mentoring initiatives
• Support wider strategic projects within the business
• Avoid repetitive compliance‑only work

Required profile

• CTA qualified and/or member of the Irish Taxation Institute
• Strong technical tax knowledge across multiple tax heads
• Experience managing client relationships within a practice
• Commercially aware with strong business acumen
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Leadership or team‑management experience advantageous
• Comfortable working with owner‑managed businesses and corporate clients
• Advisory experience desirable but not essential
• Motivated, adaptable and team‑oriented approach
