Tax Manager

About the role

Group Tax is essential to ensuring ESB meets its tax obligations across Ireland, the UK and other jurisdictions. The Tax Manager supports the Group Tax Manager in delivering the tax strategy and maintaining a robust tax control framework, combining technical expertise with strong business partnering.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, commercially focused tax advice to business units and senior stakeholders.
• Support major transactions, business cases, negotiation strategies and tax forecasting.
• Lead corporation tax compliance for Irish and UK subsidiaries, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
• Review and lead tax provisioning for statutory accounts, management reporting and forecasts.
• Oversee transfer pricing documentation and related calculations, including Country‑by‑Country reporting.
• Implement and maintain the Group Tax Governance and Control Framework, including UK Senior Accounting Officer compliance.
• Lead the Group’s tax forecasting process and ensure alignment with Integrated Business Planning.
• Ensure Pillar II tax provisioning and sustainability‑related tax reporting are accurate.
• Drive process improvements and tax technology initiatives using data analytics tools.
• Represent Group Tax in cross‑functional projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years in a tax role with 7+ years post‑qualification experience.
• CTA (Institute of Tax) or CTC (Institute of Chartered Accountants) qualification.
• Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Good decision‑making, risk analysis and problem‑solving capability.
