Team Lead – Operations Security

About the role

Newmont is looking for a Team Lead to oversee Operations Security at its Lihir gold mine in Papua New Guinea. You will protect people, assets and the environment by ensuring security procedures are followed and by driving continuous improvement of security measures.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with security protocols and evaluate existing measures to identify gaps.
• Analyse security system data, manage access‑control systems and recommend enhancements.
• Lead, coach and supervise on‑site security staff and contracted security teams.
• Deliver security awareness training and support the rollout of new surveillance technologies.
• Investigate security incidents, support emergency preparedness and produce performance reports for management.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in security operations, including investigations, CCTV and control‑room environments.
• Formal education in Criminal Justice, Security Management or a related field is advantageous.
• Proven ability to lead teams and work in a remote, multicultural mining environment.
