Urgent Care Physician – Fixed-Term (9 months) – Carrickmines

About the role

Vhi Health & Wellbeing DAC is seeking an experienced Urgent Care Physician to join its Carrickmines Urgent Care Clinic on a nine‑month fixed‑term contract. The role involves delivering timely, high‑quality care to patients with urgent but non‑life‑threatening conditions in a busy, commercially‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients presenting with minor injuries such as sprains, fractures, wounds and other urgent care presentations.
• Perform initial interpretation of X‑rays and ECGs and document findings.
• Facilitate referrals to specialist services when required.
• Carry out minor procedures and provide appropriate follow‑up advice.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to risk management and audit activities.

Required profile

• Registered with the Irish Medical Council.
• Minimum 5 years post‑graduate clinical experience, including significant time in general practice and at least 2 years recent urgent‑care, minor‑trauma or A&E experience.
• Experience working with paediatric patients (at least 6 months) is desirable.
• Ability to work a flexible 7‑day roster and meet tight time‑frame targets.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in interpreting ECGs.
• Proficiency in interpreting X‑ray images.
