Accountant – European Finance Operations

About the role

This position offers a unique chance to join a global multinational and gain hands‑on experience across the full finance function. Working closely with the Finance Manager and European Financial Controller, you will support day‑to‑day finance operations for multiple European legal entities.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes for various European entities.
• Prepare and post general ledger entries throughout the month and at period end.
• Manage and submit required government returns.
• Support interim and year‑end audit activities, including preparing audit files and acting as a key contact for auditors.
• Prepare year‑end statutory reports and reconcile balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and other financial statements.
• Handle accruals, pre‑payments, employee expenses, cash management and monthly payroll.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements in finance processes and controls.
• Provide functional advice, support and training to team members as needed.
• Assist with ad‑hoc analysis, project work and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret financial performance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail and audit‑ready mindset.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
