About the role
The Advanced Specialist Pharmacist (ASP) will lead medicines optimisation within oncology, haematology and aseptic compounding services at Beaumont Hospital and its affiliated sites. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the ASP provides high‑level clinical input, ensures safe and cost‑effective use of medicines, and supports a range of specialist pharmacy services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead medicines optimisation and stewardship programmes across defined clinical areas.
- Provide expert medication advice on dosing, drug selection, administration, therapeutic drug monitoring and use of unlicensed medicines.
- Act as a professional resource for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, delivering specialist input in oncology, haematology and aseptic compounding.
- Drive education, training and mentorship for pharmacy staff.
- Participate in research, evaluation and quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to medication safety, informatics and the development of pharmacy policies.
Required profile
- Registered pharmacist with advanced specialist qualification (FIP Advanced Level II) in oncology/haematology or related area.
- Demonstrated leadership in a clinical pharmacy setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills for advising clinicians and mentoring staff.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and research.
