AI Engineer II – Build and Operate Production AI Systems

About the role

Mastercard’s CNPF Data & AI organisation is seeking an AI Engineer II to help design, deploy, and maintain applied AI solutions in a production environment. This position is ideal for engineers who have moved beyond junior‑level tasks and are ready to own delivery with guidance from senior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and sustain AI/ML‑enabled services under senior engineer mentorship.
• Support the deployment, monitoring, and operation of machine‑learning models in production.
• Participate in data preparation, feature engineering, and experimentation workflows.
• Contribute to building ML pipelines, inference services, and batch or real‑time data flows.
• Debug, monitor, and improve existing AI systems to ensure reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with data scientists to translate models into production‑ready solutions.
• Follow best practices for testing, documentation, and version control.

Required profile

• Experience as an AI engineer, ML engineer, or software engineer working on data‑driven systems.
• Comfort with ambiguous problems and a willingness to learn through hands‑on delivery.
• Understanding of Mastercard’s security, governance, and responsible AI standards.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Familiarity with common data and machine‑learning libraries.
• Basic knowledge of how ML models transition from development to production.
• Experience with data pipelines, APIs, and foundational distributed‑systems concepts.
