About the role
Jacobs is seeking an Archaeologist to deliver archaeological and cultural heritage services for a range of infrastructure projects across Ireland. You will ensure heritage considerations are integrated into project planning, support environmental assessments, and oversee mitigation strategies on‑site.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to assessments, reporting and data recording.
- Provide on‑site archaeological and cultural heritage oversight during construction to ensure compliance with professional standards and contractual obligations.
- Undertake Desk Based Assessments (DBAs) and heritage assessments to support planning and environmental studies.
- Conduct site visits, walk‑over surveys, and review archive and topographic files.
- Prepare and contribute to Cultural Heritage chapters of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), including impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Review and quality‑assure fieldwork outputs such as excavation reports, watching briefs and surveys.
- Collect, interpret and synthesize data from GIS, historic records and previous investigations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide support to UK‑based teams as required.
Required profile
- Degree in Archaeology, Heritage Management or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional experience in commercial archaeology, consultancy or heritage assessment.
- Experience in archaeological fieldwork and reporting.
- Knowledge of Irish planning and heritage legislation.
- Ability to travel for site‑based work across Ireland and occasionally the UK.
- Excellent report writing, analytical and organisational skills.
- Membership (or working towards membership) of a professional body such as IAI or CIfA.
- Experience with GIS and spatial data analysis.
