Assistant Accountant

About the role

Our client in Dublin City Centre is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a growing finance team on a hybrid working model. This permanent position offers the chance to support a range of accounting, payroll and reporting activities while contributing to month‑end and year‑end processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with month‑end close activities, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accurate transaction recording.
• Process and reconcile payroll information in line with company procedures.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as required.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting activities.
• Monitor financial controls and contribute to process improvements.
• Provide day‑to‑day support across the wider finance team.
• Assist with audit preparation and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Experience with payroll processing and reconciliation.
• Accounting Technician, ATI or similar qualification desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative team approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience processing and reconciling payroll.
