Assistant Accountant – Legal Sector (Hybrid)

About the role
A leading legal firm in Dublin is looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to support two legal entities and the wider finance team. The role offers a hybrid working model and the chance to work closely with the Financial Controller on month‑end, payroll and reporting activities.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Financial Controller with month‑end processes, reconciliations and control activities.
- Maintain accounting ledgers for two legal entities, including monthly recharges.
- Serve as the primary finance contact for transactions recorded in the Keyhouse practice management system.
- Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing each month.
- Process client account transfer requests and ensure strict adherence to control procedures.
- Review balance‑sheet items, general‑ledger postings, nominal coding, creditors and debtors.
- Support payables/receivables queries and provide guidance to team members.
- Oversee the self‑billing portal, reviewing timesheets and performing reconciliations.
- Assist with shared finance tasks such as petty‑cash reconciliations.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a comparable accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, month‑end close, reconciliations, payables, receivables and double‑entry bookkeeping.
- Experience in the legal or professional services sector is highly advantageous.
- Accounting Technician qualification or similar is a plus.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently under tight deadlines.
Required skills
- Proficiency with financial ERP systems.
- Experience using the Keyhouse practice management system.
