Back-End Engineer (Python) – Remote, Ireland

About the role

We are looking for a Back-End Engineer with strong Python expertise to join a fast‑growing, remote‑first engineering team. You will help build the core services of a global platform that powers payroll, compliance, benefits, and workforce infrastructure for companies hiring across borders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain fast, secure, and scalable Python‑based APIs.
• Build and integrate microservices and third‑party services for a global workforce management platform.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from architecture to production support.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and deliver new features.
• Contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions, and backend best practices.
• Leverage AI‑powered development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality.
• Write technical documentation, API specifications, and system design artifacts.
• Continuously improve backend performance, scalability, and security.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in backend or software development.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with FastAPI.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs; knowledge of gRPC or GraphQL is a plus.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and/or non‑relational databases.
• Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively in a remote, asynchronous environment.
