Baggage Technician – Mechanical Fitter (Asset Management)

About the role

We are looking for a cross‑skilled Baggage Technician to join the Asset Management team at Dublin Airport. You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the airport’s extensive baggage handling systems, ensuring safe and efficient baggage flow across the terminals.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control BHS via SCADA and related control systems from the control room.
• Investigate and resolve baggage jams and stoppages, analysing root causes.
• Perform planned, reactive and emergency maintenance on conveyors, automated sortation units, PLCs, HMI, X‑ray machines and other assets.
• Maintain accurate records in the CMMS, including work orders, timecards and escalation logs.
• Ensure a clean and safe work environment, handling waste, lamp and filter replacement.
• Communicate system issues promptly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in health & safety initiatives, toolbox talks and continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Willingness to work 12‑hour shifts on a 24/7, 4‑week rotating schedule.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi‑skilled team environment.
• Commitment to developing technical competencies in mechanical and electrical systems.

Required skills

• Experience with SCADA monitoring and control.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and HMI operation.
• Use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Mechanical fitting and troubleshooting of conveyor and sortation equipment.
• Familiarity with X‑ray baggage screening machines.
• Adherence to health & safety and quality standards.
