Bare Developer – Cross-Platform Runtime Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Bare Developer to join a partner company’s engineering team. The role focuses on building and evolving a lightweight cross-platform runtime and its native modules, bridging C and JavaScript to expose OS-level capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain native modules in C and JavaScript, owning the full lifecycle from implementation to production deployment.
• Implement cross-platform system integrations for networking, filesystem, Bluetooth and cryptography via JavaScript APIs.
• Maintain and improve cross-compilation toolchains and CI pipelines for macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.
• Contribute to the runtime core, enhancing module systems and native addon architecture.
• Debug complex, multi-OS issues to ensure stability, performance and reliability of the runtime.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience in C programming and system-level code.
• Advanced JavaScript expertise with understanding of runtime internals and module systems.
• Experience creating native addons using N-API, node-gyp or similar.
• Familiarity with asynchronous I/O (e.g., libuv) and event-driven architectures.
• Proven ability to work with macOS, Linux, Android NDK and iOS Xcode toolchains.
