Business Development Executive - Commercial Insurance

About the role

Howden Ireland, part of the global insurance group Howden, is hiring a Business Development Executive for its small enterprise commercial insurance book of business, based in a Dublin office. Reporting to the Head of Sales, the role supports the sales function by converting leads, assisting regional offices, coordinating documentation and keeping compliance standards high. Structured training and a clear path to a Commercial Sales Executive position are offered.

Key responsibilities

• Follow up and convert leads from digital channels, outbound telemarketing, regional office referrals, web enquiries and inbound calls using online platforms
• Assist the sales team with submissions, quotation proposals and new business opportunities
• Support premium debiting and ensure documentation is accurate, complete and issued on time
• Work with regional offices to bind new risks efficiently and professionally
• Follow up with insurers on outstanding documentation and keep the CRM up to date with leads, opportunities and customer interactions
• Maintain good relationships with colleagues, insurers and external stakeholders and respond promptly to enquiries
• Adhere strictly to Howden Ireland and Group compliance standards and regulatory requirements
• Help with ad hoc sales tasks and wider team activity

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development, sales or account acquisition (insurance or professional services preferred)
• Experience in commercial insurance brokerage
• Knowledge of the Irish insurance market and insurer appetite
• CIP qualification
• Existing professional network within target sectors
• Comfortable working to revenue targets and KPIs

• Self-motivated, able to manage a pipeline independently
• Strong organisation and time management
