About the role
The Checkout Operator ensures the Checkout Department runs efficiently, providing excellent customer service in a fast‑paced retail environment.
Key responsibilities
- Operate a computerised till system with barcode scanner, handling payments, coupons and vouchers.
- Weigh and price fresh produce, check age‑restricted items, and balance the till at the end of the shift.
- Stock shelves, check inventory, and maintain high merchandising standards.
- Participate in team meetings and apply learned improvements.
Required profile
- At least 2 years of retail experience (desirable).
- Strong communication, attention to detail and ability to prioritise customer needs.
- Flexible, organised and able to work both at the till and on the shop floor.
Required skills
- Ability to use a computerised till system.
- Proficiency with barcode scanners and basic cash handling.
