Clinical Physiologist (Trainee) – NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde

About the role

The Respiratory Physiology Service within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde delivers routine and specialised diagnostic testing for the region. This permanent, full‑time position (36 hours per week) supports the service by performing basic and specialist investigations, maintaining equipment, and handling administrative duties across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out diagnostic respiratory investigations, including spirometry.
• Sterilise and maintain laboratory equipment to required standards.
• Perform general administrative tasks for the respiratory laboratories.
• Travel to various sites across Greater Glasgow & Clyde on a rotational basis to provide testing.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols, including moving and handling training.

Required profile

• BSc Clinical Physiology or a related degree (essential).
• ARTP Part 1 or ARTP Practitioner qualification (desirable).
• ARTP Spirometry Certificate (desirable).
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting (desirable).
• Willingness to undertake full training for the role.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
• Competence in performing spirometry tests.
