Communications Officer (Humanitarian NGO)

About the role

GOAL is seeking a talented Communications Officer to join its headquarters in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will work closely with programme and fundraising teams to create compelling stories that raise the organisation’s global profile and support income generation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop engaging human‑interest stories, blogs, social media posts and multimedia assets.
• Translate complex programme information into clear, audience‑focused narratives.
• Draft press releases, articles and opinion pieces, and support media outreach.
• Partner with fundraising teams on campaigns such as GOAL Mile, Jersey Day and emergency appeals, creating content that drives participation and revenue.
• Contribute to website and social‑media content across platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok) and support the digital communications strategy.
• Ensure brand consistency across all outputs and support internal communications.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in communications, PR, marketing or a related field.
• Strong writing and storytelling ability, adaptable to different audiences.
• Experience creating digital content and supporting campaigns.
• Good understanding of social‑media platforms and current trends.
• Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
