Construction Materials Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Construction Materials Technician to join Breedon’s Bennettsbridge Asphalt Plant in Kilkenny. The role supports quality assurance of quarrying and surfacing products through on‑site and laboratory testing, ensuring materials meet required standards.

Key responsibilities

• Test and sample aggregate, bituminous, unbound and earthworks materials, performing grading analysis, binder content, and physical, chemical and mechanical tests.
• Conduct daily organoleptic checks for the laboratory, production facilities and stockpiles.
• Maintain a safe, tidy workspace and ensure efficient laboratory operations.
• Follow company and accrediting body quality procedures, recording results on test sheets and laboratory software.
• Calibrate testing equipment and perform daily equipment checks.
• Prepare for inspections by independent accrediting bodies.
• Investigate material‑related complaints and provide documented feedback.
• Provide technical support for other contracts across the UK and Ireland.

Required profile

• Leaving certificate (or equivalent) education.
• Experience working in a team environment and supporting colleagues.
• Flexibility to work night shifts or weekends when required.
• Valid driving licence.
