Construction Planner

About the role

The Planner/Scheduler will develop, manage and maintain project schedules for construction projects in Cork, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients to optimise timelines and resource allocation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop clear tender‑stage construction schedules and narrative submissions under tight deadlines.
• Create and maintain detailed construction schedules using MS Project, Primavera P6 and, where advantageous, Asta Powerproject.
• Break down project scope into work packages and align schedules with project objectives.
• Track progress against baseline, perform critical‑path analysis and report deviations.
• Coordinate with project managers, site teams and subcontractors to gather schedule data and facilitate progress meetings.
• Identify scheduling risks, develop mitigation strategies and assess impacts of scope changes.
• Prepare Gantt charts, S‑curves and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement by sharing best practices and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of Irish construction methods, sequencing and resource management.
• Experience working within Public Works and RIAI contract frameworks.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Primavera P6.
• Proficiency with MS Project.
• Knowledge of Asta Powerproject (advantage).
• Understanding of critical path method.
• Earned value analysis.
