Construction Project Manager – Cork

About the role

PJ Hegarty, Ireland’s leading construction firm, is seeking a Project Manager to lead a new build in Cork. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will oversee the project from concept through to hand‑over, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the construction team and drive high performance across all project phases.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Create and manage the contract programme, sequencing works to meet milestones.
• Identify and mitigate project risks through effective short‑ and medium‑term planning.
• Champion quality standards and coordinate activities in line with company procedures.
• Oversee commercial delivery, procurement and subcontractor ordering in line with the programme.
• Lead value‑engineering and product development initiatives.
• Provide transparent reporting, forecasting and regular progress updates.

Required profile

• Relevant third‑level degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years post‑qualification experience delivering large‑scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder relationships.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Excellent IT proficiency with a strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
