Consultant Physician – Endocrinology & Diabetes

About the role

The Consultant Physician in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus will provide specialist clinical care at Connolly Hospital, Dublin North. This senior position leads the endocrine service, delivering high‑quality diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for patients with endocrine disorders and diabetes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients with endocrine and metabolic conditions, including diabetes mellitus.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, supervise junior doctors and trainees, and coordinate outpatient clinics.
• Develop and implement service improvement initiatives and clinical pathways.
• Participate in on‑call rotas, emergency care and acute endocrine management.
• Contribute to research, teaching and audit activities within the department.

Required profile

• Medical degree and full registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Specialist training and accreditation in Endocrinology and Diabetes.
• Consultant grade experience in a hospital setting.
• Eligibility to work within the HSE or as a non‑HSE applicant.
