Consultant Rheumatologist (Full‑time)

About the role

The department is seeking a Consultant Rheumatologist to join a team of six full‑time consultants. The post supports both inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring a seamless rheumatology pathway for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct clinical care amounting to 4.25 full‑time equivalents per week.
• Run three weekly rheumatology clinics: General Rheumatology, Early Inflammatory Arthritis, and Connective Tissue Disease (each 3.5 hours plus admin time).
• Provide supporting professional activities (0.75 FTE) such as teaching and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Utilise Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Nailfold Capillaroscopy where appropriate.
• Participate in the development of the Job Plan in consultation with the Clinical Director and Medical Director.

Required profile

• Qualified Consultant Rheumatologist registered to practice in Ireland.
• Experience in managing both inpatient and outpatient rheumatology cases.
• Willingness to engage in teaching, ultrasound, and capillaroscopy activities.
• Commitment to work within European working‑hour directives and the department’s consultant contract.
