About the role
The department is seeking a Consultant Rheumatologist to join a team of six full‑time consultants. The post supports both inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring a seamless rheumatology pathway for patients.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver direct clinical care amounting to 4.25 full‑time equivalents per week.
- Run three weekly rheumatology clinics: General Rheumatology, Early Inflammatory Arthritis, and Connective Tissue Disease (each 3.5 hours plus admin time).
- Provide supporting professional activities (0.75 FTE) such as teaching and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Utilise Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Nailfold Capillaroscopy where appropriate.
- Participate in the development of the Job Plan in consultation with the Clinical Director and Medical Director.
Required profile
- Qualified Consultant Rheumatologist registered to practice in Ireland.
- Experience in managing both inpatient and outpatient rheumatology cases.
- Willingness to engage in teaching, ultrasound, and capillaroscopy activities.
- Commitment to work within European working‑hour directives and the department’s consultant contract.
