Controller – Financial Management Lead

About the role

The Controller will lead all aspects of financial management for two corporate entities, ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements. This position offers a clear growth path toward the CFO role.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multi‑company accounting operations, including financial reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Coordinate and prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance reports.
• Prepare and publish timely consolidated financial statements.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Lead and develop a team of four employees, with potential to expand as the business grows.
• Maintain accrual schedules, monthly KPI reporting, and asset/depreciation management.
• Perform bank reconciliations and research technical accounting issues for compliance.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
• Manage compliance with local, state, federal, CAT, and sales & use tax filings.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
• Assist with acquisitions and support the CFO on special projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (required).
• 5–7 years of relevant experience; CPA with 2+ years in public accounting preferred; CMA desired.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Experience with multi‑site, multi‑company organizations.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles, economics, accounting, and complex problem solving.

Required skills

• Microsoft Word – intermediate proficiency.
• Microsoft Excel – advanced proficiency, including formulas and pivot tables.
