Data Analytical Research Assistant

About the role

The School of Business at Maynooth University is seeking a Data Analytical Research Assistant to join the International Research on Energy Systems Integration, Education & Environment for Sustainability and Innovation Centre (IRESI). The role supports the RENEW project, a Research Ireland‑funded initiative developing a Smart Tariff Comparison Tool for sustainable energy markets.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and prepare energy‑related and consumer datasets for analysis.
• Perform statistical and exploratory data analysis to inform tool development.
• Maintain data management procedures and documentation.
• Assist in testing, validating, and refining the Smart Tariff Comparison Tool.
• Generate reports and visualisations that communicate findings to the research team.
• Collaborate with senior researchers and technical staff across disciplines.

Required profile

• Motivated and detail‑oriented early‑career researcher or analyst.
• Strong interest in sustainable energy systems and data‑driven research.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
