Engineering Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The Engineering Maintenance Supervisor provides mechanical engineering expertise to ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑effective operation of Newmont’s Lihir gold mine. You will lead design, improvement, and maintenance initiatives that keep plant assets performing at their best.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support to production and maintenance teams.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects to increase reliability, reduce downtime and lower lifecycle costs.
• Develop mechanical designs from concept through execution.
• Deliver OPEX projects on time and within budget, including engineering trials to extend asset life.
• Participate in CAPEX projects as a stakeholder.
• Monitor plant performance metrics, prepare engineering reports and analyse losses.
• Conduct investigations using Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) standards.
• Assess asset criticality and implement reliability‑enhancing strategies.
• Lead change initiatives through Management of Change (MOC) processes.
• Mentor tradesmen, planners and junior engineers, providing technical guidance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering within a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage OPEX and support CAPEX projects.
• Strong analytical skills for performance monitoring and loss investigation.
• Experience applying RCFA and MOC methodologies.
• Leadership capability to mentor technical staff.
