Facilities Technician – Hospital Maintenance

About the role

The Facilities Technician will join the Facilities/Utilities team at UPMC Whitfield Hospital, supporting day‑to‑day maintenance of building fabric, plant, and utility systems across the main site and satellite locations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain Helpdesk and PPM tasks to ensure accurate reporting and monitoring.
• Perform routine and reactive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and building services equipment.
• Support energy‑use initiatives (gas, electricity, water) and promote ISO 50001 energy‑management practices.
• Assist the Facilities Manager and Projects Team in managing sub‑contractors and specialist engineers.
• Enter new assets into the F2 Helpdesk/Asset database and set up preventive‑maintenance schedules.
• Ensure stock levels for materials comply with budget guidelines.
• Carry out audits of subcontractor performance and uphold health‑and‑safety standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Mechanical, Electrical or Maintenance Technician (Level 6 HETAC) with at least three years of post‑qualification experience in a regulated healthcare or pharmaceutical environment.
• Familiarity with preventive‑maintenance planning, asset management systems, and health‑and‑safety policies.
