About the role
The Finance Manager will work closely with the Managing Director, providing financial insight and governance across the business. This senior position partners with commercial, operations, production, supply chain and technical teams to drive cost efficiency and strategic decision‑making.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash‑flow reports.
- Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Produce budgets, forecasts and variance analysis in collaboration with operational teams.
- Analyse manufacturing costs (materials, labour, overheads) and support cost‑saving initiatives.
- Manage group credit KPIs, including DSO targets, and oversee cash‑flow forecasting.
- Oversee standard costing, product costing and margin analysis with the commercial team.
- Monitor inventory valuation, stock movements and provisions.
- Liaise with banks, auditors and external stakeholders, managing the financial audit to meet group deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and statutory reporting, including HMRC returns and customs documentation.
- Maintain strong financial controls, documented processes and develop finance team members.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, production and commercial teams to improve financial performance and support senior leadership with ad‑hoc analysis and strategic projects.
Required profile
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven track record in financial control, management, budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience in a manufacturing or operationally focused business.
- Ability to act as a commercial partner to senior leadership and operational teams.
- Strong attention to detail and hands‑on approach.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with credibility to influence across functions.
Required skills
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Oracle (or similar ERP system).
- Credit Management Systems such as MyDSO Manager, Sidetrade or Creditsafe.
