Financial Accountant

About the role

Our client, a manufacturing company based in Longford, is looking for a Financial Accountant to join the Finance Department. The role will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong controls, and provide commercial support to help drive operational and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss and balance sheet reports.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations and perform variance analysis on financial and operational performance.
• Manage accounts receivable, process cash receipts, and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Monitor cash flow, maintain bank discounting controls and liaise with banking institutions.
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of sales and CAPEX budgets, review capital expenditure requests, and maintain fixed‑asset registers.
• Participate in stock review meetings, conduct material usage and variance analysis.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, coordinate R&D tax claims and IDA grant applications.
• Support compliance with internal controls and audit requirements across UK and Ireland operations.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
• Experience in financial accounting, month‑end reporting and budgeting.
• Knowledge of VAT, audit preparation and financial compliance.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing or operational finance environment is advantageous.
