Financial Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join a growing accountancy practice serving national retail brands in County Cork. This full‑time, hybrid role offers the chance to lead a team of accountants and trainees while delivering high‑quality financial services to retail clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review management accounts, focusing on gross margin variances and implementing action plans for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
• Evaluate and implement internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee working capital management, ensuring optimal cash flow and financial planning.
• Provide full financial control services to a portfolio of retail sector clients, including supermarkets and convenience stores.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants and trainees, fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with at least 3 years of experience, ideally in practice.
• Strong financial analysis, problem‑solving, and client communication skills.
• Ability to train, manage, and develop staff effectively.
• Retail sector experience is preferred but not essential.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounts preparation, financial reporting, and IT systems.

What we offer
