Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, cash‑flow management and performance analysis. Working closely with senior leadership, the role supports strategic decision‑making and drives continuous improvement across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance function and manage the preparation of monthly management accounts, annual financial statements and audit processes.
• Oversee statutory compliance, payroll, tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting and provide financial analysis to support business performance and profitability.
• Produce KPI reports and deliver meaningful insights to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and systems.
• Support and mentor finance team members while fostering a collaborative working environment.
• Liaise with wider business operations and interpret financial performance metrics for management review.

Required profile

• Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CPA) with at least 5 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in financial reporting and statutory compliance.
• Proven leadership and people‑management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop teams.
• Previous experience within the motor, automotive or distribution sector is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with financial reporting systems and other finance‑related software.
