Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join a leading communications consultancy. Reporting to the Finance Director, the role is highly commercial and works closely with senior management on the organisation’s strategic direction, overseeing day‑to‑day accounting and timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the month‑end process, including timetabling and preparation of internal monthly management accounts.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts and variance reporting.
• Review actual performance against budget each month and recommend actions based on results.
• Identify and implement efficiencies and cost‑reduction initiatives across the business.
• Lead the finance team, providing support and direction.
• Provide key finance support to Managing Directors, helping deliver the company’s financial strategy.
• Conduct commercial analysis using management information reports to meet financial targets.
• Ensure client accounts are managed within agreed budgets and recommend improvements to optimise commerciality.
• Leverage technology and financial systems to streamline processes while maintaining robust controls.
• Undertake ad‑hoc projects as required.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CAPA).
• Proven experience in financial management or control.
• Strong analytical ability with knowledge of general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, accounting standards and compliance regulations.
• Strong commercial acumen.
